King’s Meadow Study Center was established by Dr. George Grant to help Christians develop a cultural expression of the Protestant and Reformed Christian worldview in everyday life.
We provide tools to educate, encourage, and equip individuals, families, and organizations to apply a Biblical worldview to all spheres of life. In doing so, King’s Meadow is building reformation from the roots up—helping families display the Glory of the Gospel first at home and then to the entire world.
Our Story
King’s Meadow Study Center began when the Grants moved to their present home in Franklin, TN in 1994.
Our organization initially encapsulated George’s writing and speaking, as well as continuing education and publishing ventures. Students were often invited to join George in a reading program during their gap year. This reading program birthed Bannockburn, an initial attempt at college level study. Finally, New College Franklin was born through a cooperative effort between KMSC and Parish Presbyterian Church. Recently New College is on its own firm foundations as its own entity.
Today, KMSC produces content around a Christian worldview, supports missions, raises money for Christian education scholarships, and produces curriculum.
Dr. George Grant
Dr. George Grant first stepped into the rich tradition of Classical Education with self-study and exploration of the classics as a young adult. This burgeoning interest in Classical Education became a lifelong passion for Grant, who is now an established pastor and educator.
Originally (and always) a Texan, Grant moved his family to Middle Tennessee in the early 1990s where he started King’s Meadow Study Center. Grant’s views on Classical Education are influenced by the works of great Scottish pastor, social reformer, educator, author, and scientist Thomas Chalmers (1780-1847) and Dutch politician, journalist, statesman, and theologian Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920).
Like the men he admires, Grant wears many hats in his community: he is a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, president of King’s Meadow Study Center, the pastor of Parish Presbyterian Church, instructor at and founder of Franklin Classical School, chancellor of New College Franklin, writer, avid reader, runner, gardener, and barbecue master.
He is the author of dozens books in the areas of history, biography, politics, literature, and social criticism, and he has written hundreds of essays, articles, and columns. In addition to his regular classes in history, literature, theology, and the arts, Grant maintains an active writing and speaking schedule in this country and around the world. His writings on behalf of the homeless, international relief and development, racial reconciliation, and on the sanctity of life have been highlighted in varied media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Focus on the Family, The 700 Club, the Coral Ridge Hour, Point of View, Crossfire, World Magazine, Table Talk, and Christianity Today.
Grant has degrees in Political Science from the University of Houston (B.A.), Philosophy from Whitefield Theological Seminary (M.A., D.Litt., Ph.D.), Humanities from Belhaven College (D.Hum.), and Theology at Knox Theological Seminary (D.Min.).
