What can you tell me about Fleet Foxes? The Medieval and Medieval-style artwork is intriguing.

Linda: Fleet Foxes are are a young, Seattle-based, rock band who tired of the typical "indy-grunge" sound of the club scene in the Pacific Northwest. They have a fascinating melodic sound drawn from a combination of surprising influences--from Bach and Mozart to the Beach Boys and the Beatles, from Stealer's Wheel and Steeleye Span to Fairport Convention and James Taylor. Their music sort of reminds me of a combination of Simon and Garfunkel, David Crosby, and the Association performing vocal fugues and old English folk songs. Like the Weepies and HEM, they really break the musical mold.

Dr. Grant, if you're interested in artists that break the musical mold, check out Punch Brothers.
