Watching all the political debate we're now being treated to, I can't help but think how we could use a BTW today!
I took your recommendation and read "Up From Slavery" last year and count it as one of the most important and inspirational books I've ever read.
Most striking to me was this man's sense of honor when speaking about his native South - that he refused to criticize Whites when speaking outside the South.
This man was remarkable, and I'm most grateful to you for exposing him to me. "Up From Slavery" is on our family's must-read shelf.
