I have been taken aback this week by how much WFB's passing saddens me. I confess there were whole years in which I scarcely gave him a conscious thought, and yet knowing he is no longer minding rudder and mast in this tempest is deeply unsettling. Where is a man to fill such shoes in such a time as this? God knows.
